Knight Rider returns

Knight Rider, a very popular series in the 80s that I loved to watch, is returning to television. NBC is working on a two hour tv movie, that rumor also has may serve as a sort of back door pilot episode to a new series. Justin Bruening, who played Jamie Martin on the soap All My Children, has been chosen to portray Michael Knight’s son. I’m looking forward to this one. I’ll post more info as I find it.

Sunday Sightings 11/25/07

I just saw a commercial for the new Nicolas Cage movie, National Treasure Book of Secrets, due out 12/21/07.

Dr Adams, who performed Kanye West’s mother’s cosmetic surgery, says he isn’t commenting on what happened to her until after autopsy results are revealed. He walked off of the Larry King show Tuesday night saying he wasn’t going to speak at this time until he’d spoken with the West family.

American Idol is revamping its format a bit. Next season expect to see less celebrities. Paula Abdul said the show wants to focus more on the contestants.

Entertainment Weekly named JK Rowling, the author of all seven Harry Potter books, their Entertainer of the Year.

Jennie Garth was voted off Dancing With The Stars this week. I really liked her and hoped she’d win. So far every person I’ve wanted to win a season hasn’t made it with the exception of Kelly Monaco.

Review of Fanatic Space

Today I’m reviewing Jason’s blog at FanaticSpace.com. Fanatic Space is a website where fans are meant to gather. It offers specific forums where people can find others who share the same interests. The site also offers a blog, which is what I’m reviewing.

The Fanatic Space blog is on a customized white and blue two column theme. Jason’s done some work here with the coloring of the boxes in the theme. It took me 21 clicks to get from the top of the home page to the bottom. A few suggestions for the sidebar. Shorten the width of the search field, the email address field and the archives field, they’re poking out of the box. I was not able to find a category list, and I really like those because I think they help readers find relevant content.

The Amazon unbox is pretty big. I myself am not a fan of it but if you plan on keeping it perhaps there is a way to blend it in more naturally. It’s black, where everything else isn’t, and it stands out because it is a different size and is aligned differently than the other boxes.

Fanatic Space does offer an about page, but it doesn’t contain any information about the author Jason.  I for one would be interested in knowing why Jason started a fan fansite. Posts are well worded original content. Jason’s trying to build readership, and even offers forums for visitors. Why not go check out Fanatic Space and see if you can find others that share your interests? Tell Jason that valmg sent you.

Kanye West’s mother died. An autopsy and investigation are being performed, as she reportedly had plastic surgery less than twenty four hours prior. A well known plastic surgeon had told her she’d need medical clearance for the surgery, after which he didn’t hear from her again. Word has it that the surgery was performed by Dr Jan Adams, a celebrity doctor who uses to be one of the hosts of the daytime show The Other Half, along with Dick Clark, Mario Lopez and Danny Bonaduce.

Boxoffice results for the top three are

#1.  Beowulf, $28.1 million, released this week
#2.  Bee Movie, $14.3 million
#3.  American Gangster, $13.2 million

Sarah Michelle Gellar officially changed her name to Sarah Michelle Prinze as a fifth anniversary present to her hubby Freddy.

Is talent in their genes?
Clint Eastwood’s 21 year old son Scott Reeves is going into acting.
Henry Winkler’s 24 year old son Max is a writer and director.
Michael Landon’s 32 year old son Christopher is the screenwriter that wrote Disturbea.

Matt Damon was named Sexiest Man Alive. I don’t agree, there’s lots of men sexier than him. It seems that his friends George Clooney and Brad Pitt ran his campaign for the title. I must be naive, I didn’t know there was a campaign.

Cable, this is nothing new.

I read on Msnbc that Cablevision announced that as of today three million of its cable customers will have caller id on screen. Comcast has plans to market this feature in markets in the future. Time Warner currently offers it in some areas.
What I can’t figure out is why this is big news. I have DirecTv satellite televison and we’ve had this feature built into our receiver for a while now.

TV writers strike continues

The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers say that “67 percent — 64 of 96 — television series this season are scripted, down from 81 percent just two seasons ago.”

All late night shows are in repeats now, except for Nightline which will remain live and original.

Soaps can make it into 2008. How far into the new year depends on the show. NBC says they have enough to get through January. CBS says they have enough to get through February. ABC says their soaps are written “well into the new year,” and that they will “continue to produce original programming with no repeats and without interruption.”

Production has already shut down Desperate Housewives, Greys Anatomy, New Adventures of Old Christine, Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men, Rules of Engagement, How I Met Your Mother, The Office, Heroes, Back To You, Til Death and KVille.

I hope they can come to an agreement soon or there will be little tv to watch that I want to watch.

As always, there was lots of Britney news this week. So much so that when surfing the MSNBC site I noticed that Britney has her own section. That’s crazy.
I also noticed that most of the times I see video of Britney she’s eating.
The judge ordered Britney to pay $120,000 to Kfed to cover his legal fees because he has no job. Pointed out was the fact that the couple had to keep going to court because of Britney’s behavior.
The lawyer representing Britney also represented the late Anna Nicole Smith.

It became known that Britney didn’t respond to eight of fourteen drug tests. Spears lawyer said Spears did not respond to the lab phone calls within an hour, as ordered by the court, because she was sleeping. The judge said that the time to respond wasn’t the issue, the issue was they can’t reach her because she changed or lost phone numbers and that she needs one number they can reach her at so if necessary she should get a separate number just for the lab.

Carmen Electra is suing the Naked Women’s Wrestling League for breach of contract, negligence and unfair business practices, claiming she was never paid the  agreed-upon price for several live event appearances.

Katie Holmes ran in the NY marathon. She was met at the finish line by hubby Tom and daughter Suri, which gave away her identity.

Baby boom

Lots of baby announcements, or confirmations, were made this week.

J Lo finally confirmed she’s pregnant during a Miami FL show last night. Gee, big surprise after designer Roberto Cavalli slipped last month with the news. What was the purpose of waiting, I have no idea. We’re not stupid Jennifer.
Also confirming pregnancies this week were singer Christina Aguilera, actress Cate Blanchett and Food Network’s Giada Dedlaurentiis.

Get ready for old late night tv.

Get ready for your tv viewing schedule to look different. The Writers Guild of America went on strike this week. The tv and film writers want better compensation for new media uses of their work, including the Internet, mobile phones and digital music players. The writers last went on strike in 1988, when the walkout lasted 22 weeks and according to MSNBC cost the industry more than $500 million.

Talk shows seem to be the first casualty. Some shows have already stopped production or will be shortly , including The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Show with David Letterman and Late Night with Conan O’Brien and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
The Oprah Winfrey show doesn’t employ union writers so will not be effected.
