Interior sets

I was tivo’ing through two days of soaps today when I realized that most home interior sets on the soaps I watch always have flowers. Just the houses and apartments, not usually the office sets and not even the hospitals so much. I started wondering if they were real, and I’m thinking probably not. My guess is they’re probably silk flowers, because if they were real ones they’d always need to replace them with more live ones and that would cost a fortune. Whatever they are, they always look nice, that’s for sure.

Outside tv

Do you know anyone that watches television outside at home? My Dad recently went on a job where the client wanted to be able to watch television from their deck and porch. My Dad placed a bracket on the vinyl siding for the flat screen tv the client bought and ran a wire. I asked my Dad what happened when it rained. He said the client was planning on bringing the flat screen in and out of the house when they wanted to watch it, and that it wasn’t a really big model so it wasn’t that heavy. So, who else watches tv outside?

Dog The Bounty Hunter to return to A&E

I know a lot of people really like this show, although I really don’t get why. Recently the execs at A&E announced that the Dog The Bounty Hunter will be returning after more than six months of the air. The network will begin airing Dog reruns on 06/25/08 and new episodes should start airing several weeks after that. The show had been removed from the air after it’s star was heard making a racial remark in a recorded phone conversation.

TV furniture

Where is your tv located? Is it on furniture? Our living room tv is big, so it’s just on wheels. The tv in the boys’ bedroom is on a dresser. The tv in the master bedroom is on a dresser. The tv in my older son’s “game room” is on a shelf in an entertainment center. That’s all of the televisions. But it isn’t all of the furniture. In the dining room we have a short tv stand on wheels that has a small cabinet in the bottom with little glass doors on it. There we keep paper, coloring and some school supplies. On top is a spinning picture album that’s about 3 foot tall. In my older son’s game room we have a giant tv cabinet made of real wood. His clothes are stored inside the top half. When one of the doors on the bottom half broke we removed the cabinet knobs and the other door and left it open for game storage.

All My Children seior citizens

I watch All My Children. Actually, I watch all three of the ABC soaps. This month All My Children brought back two characters from the past that were fan favorites - Angie and Jessie. Now Angie was alive, somewhere. Jessie was thought to be dead, but it turns out he was hiding. The storyline was heading in a silly direction, like tv shows sometimes do. Well, this week, things got weirder and left me asking myself a question I haven’t figured out the answer to yet. This week, for Angie and Jessie’s wedding (not the first), their old good friend Greg flew in. Viewers have seen some flashbacks to scenes from many years ago, a number of which include Jenny. Now why is it they couldn’t bring Jenny back on for a few days to do something. She was played by Kim Delaney, later of NYPD Blue. We had a grave scene full of memories. Why didn’t they write a few scenes for a ghost Jenny or something? It would have fit in much better. I mean come on, they brought back Dixie last week to haunt Adam. What’s one more ghost floating around? Anyway. The powers that be over at AMC seem to be focusing on the middle age characters for the moment. Does anyone else watch AMC? Have you been enjoying the episodes from the last two weeks?  Oh. What happened to the old Colby anyway?

Tv snacking

I’m curious what people snack on when watching tv. There are exceptions once in a while, but most of the time if I want a snack while watching tv I want something crunchy, crispy or salty. My favorites are popcorn (microwave, extra butter), Pringles, cheese doodles and Fritos. It’s isn’t usually sweet snacks, thank goodness, or I’d need to consider taking hoodia weight loss pills any time I wanted to watch a show. What do you like to snack on when watching tv?

Tv show interruptions

I’ve mentioned before on this blog how much I dislike preemptions. By preemption I mean an interruption of regular viewing for a large period of time, usually long enough to cause you to miss a piece of storyline. I haven’t mentioned interruptions. I know, a preemption is an interruption really. But I’m referring to the “brief interruption” stations sometimes make, of maybe two to three minutes or less. While annoying, the “brief interruption” is short enough to tolerate, and not miss a piece of storyline. I tend to think most news a station considers important frequently only merits a brief interruption. What news do you think is worthy of a brief interruption? What news do you think is worthy of cutting a huge chunk out of a show?

There must be a lot of wine drinkers out there

In this past week I have seen three do it yourself style television shows that all did similar projects that shared one theme. The theme was wine racks. Two shows covered how to convert something into a wine rack, in these cases one converted item was a shelf and the other converted item was a kitchen cabinet. The third show instructed how to make a wine rack from scratch. Are there really that many wine drinkers out there that keep enough wine in their homes to need a wine rack? I’m pretty sure they don’t just make these shows unless there’s an audience for them, so I’m guessing there are a lot of wine drinkers out there. I never would have guessed that.

4th Indiana Jones movie

Another preview my sonand I saw when we went to the movies this past Friday night was one for Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull. Harrison Ford is back as Indy once again. The trailer tells us that a magical crystal skull has been stolen from a city in the Amazon and if it is returned to the city temple, which is guarded by the living dead, all of the powers will be transferred to the person who returned it. To me the new movie looks just as good as the old ones, which we enjoyed. This movie looks like it’s got some good action scenes. The coloring, graphics, costumes and set all fit right in with the three previous movies really well. Trailers are posted on the Indiana Jones site, from this and the past three Indiana Jones movies.
