Somethings Gotta Give

I’ve been recording movies that I’ve wanted to see but haven’t gotten around to yet on my Tivo for the past couple of weeks. This week I watched the movie Something’s Gotta Give, starring Jack Nicholson, Diane Keaton and Keanu Reeves. The movie was released in 2003.

I won’t give away the ending but basically the movie is about an aging man (Nicholson) who’s attracted to younger women. While at the home of a girlfriend’s mother (Keaton) he has a heart attack and has to rely on the mother to care for him and falls for her. The doctor treating him (Reeves) becomes attracted to the mother and falls for her. There was a lot of humor in the movie. I really enjoyed some of the hospital scenes as well as the scenes of Nicholson and Keaton sending instant messages to each other while under the same roof.

Terminator 4 Salvation

I liked the first two Terminator movies. Those Terminators are made with performance parts and really tough. My favorite character was the Terminator played by Arnold Schwarzenegger. I haven’t seen the third one, I really never got the interest since it didn’t have Arnold in it. Today I read that Terminator Part 4 is due out this year, on May 21. I read a little blurb on IMDB and it sounded interesting. It’s set in 2018 and John Connor is still fighting the machines. I guess I better hurry up and see the third one, before the fourth one comes out.

Dancing With The Stars

The new season of Dancing With The Stars starts in a couple of weeks. The new celebrity contestants are Lil’ Kim, Steve-O, Nancy O’Dell, Lawrence Taylor, Shawn Johnson, Chuck Wicks, Gilles Marini, Denise Richards, Steve Wozniak, Belinda Carlisle, David Alan Grier, Ty Murray and Jewel. Of those, I knew who seven of them were. It seems like each season I know fewer and fewer of the celebrities. The new season begins on Monday March 9.

What’s become of Nash’s vineyard on One Life To Live?

I have a question for my fellow One Life To Live viewers. What ever happened in the end with Nash’s vineyard? It was going to be saved but then it turned out Jared wasn’t a Buchanan so he becamse persona non grata at BE. Tess/Bess/Jess went to the vineyard to give birth and it looked like the cabin was empty. I wondered if they’d ever said what was happening with the place. If they weren’t going to do anything else with it they could have kept it running and bringing income through a wine of the month club or something.

Is Greenlee dead or missing?

Well fellow All My Children viewers, it looks like Greenlee’s gone again. I know the actress that portrays her, Rebecca Budig, has left the show.Do you think the show will write Greenlee as missing or dead? Her motorcycle went over the cliff and only parts of her wedding veil have been found.  I’m betting no body is found so that there’s a way for the character Greenlee to come back again.

Home Alone 2 Lost In New York

Home Alone 2: Lost In New York was television again on this past weekend. It’s RB’s favorite of the Home Alone movies. My favorite part of this movie was when he tricked the staff of the Plaza, a New York City hotel. Basically they suspect something is up and try to prove it. The concierge, played by Tim Curry, goes to the door of the hotel room and hears the gangster movies and thinks what he’s hearing is an adult yelling at him and not an old movie on television. It’s really funny. Did you like the Home Alone movies? Which one was your favorite?

The geography of television advertising

The latest promotional tactic that I’m seeing on television is advertising in the corners or on the bottom of the television picture. You know the kind. On TNT during a race sometimes a guy or a tire runs across the bottom of your screen. The first time I saw it happen it startled me. I’ve been wondering exactly who pays for that ad - a network, a television show. I haven’t seen any competing stations advertised yet and I don’t think we will. I mean, what network would tell a viewer to watch a different channel. This form of advertising is probably semi affordable because it’s probably done in house. And it reaches a really large audience, much bigger than promotional bags or similar products would. I don’t mind the ads but sometimes they get in the way and block part of the show. What do you think of the ads on the bottom of the television screen?
