George Lopez To Host Late Night Talk Show

Finding a late night talk show is not like finding a diet pill that works. There are late night talk shows all over the place. That’s why I was surprised to read an article on MSNBC that stated George Lopez is getting his own late night talk show later this year. Slated to start in November on TBS, Lopez is promising his show will have the atmosphere of an outdoor street-party. I’ve seen the George Lopez show, my son TJ really likes it. It’ll be interesting to see how the show does.

Race To Witch Mountain commercial

I’m not sure how but I’m only seeing commercials for the movie Race To Witch Mountain now, after the movie’s already been out for almost two weeks. I hadn’t ever heard anything about this movie. At first I wondered how they were going to work in a continuation but after reading about it I learned it’s really someone redoing the movie Escape To Witch Mountain, released in 1975. It seems that two children (actually from another planet) offer to pay a Las Vegas cabbie to help them reach their destination quickly and safely. The destination is a cabin in the middle of nowhere. Along the way there are aliens, goverment officials, a UFO expert and some more aliens. The commercial I saw was interesting but more interesting for me is the opportunity to see how the movie was done this time, since I did see the Escape movie many years ago. If you’ve seen this movie I’d love to hear what you thought.

Dog Days Of Summer DVD out on 04/21/09

I didn’t see this movie in the theater. I don’t see most movies in the theater, actually. The Dog Days Of Summer is coming out on DVD next month. I saw a trailer online that made it look quite intriguing. (No, it isn’t about dogs sleeping on heated mattress pads).

Will Patton plays Eli Cottonmouth, a stranger that comes to town. The trailer shows what looks like a sarcophagus. The description in IMDb mentions two boys learning some truths about their town. The description didn’t seem to go along with the trailer I saw so I’m curious. If you’ve seen this movie I’d love to know if you recommend it or not.

The reality of insurance

The only auto insurance carrier I’ve seen any advertisements from lately are Progressive and Geico. Did you ever apply online for coverage and answer all of those car insurance questions? I wonder how long it is until someone comes up with a reality show based on those type of questions. Imagine a chat between a real representative and someone applying. Think of all of the questions pertaining to automobiles and insurance that you could throw in and possibly get humorous answers for. It might be entertaining. What do you think?

Obama the offender

Did any of you see Obama on Leno a couple of nights ago? When he was asked about his bowling game he replied stating  “It’s like the Special Olympics or something”. That really made me mad. I didn’t expect such an insensitive and offensive remark from him. Maybe if he were less concerned with making history going on Leno and more concerned with our country’s problems this wouldn’t have happened. I wrote it an article about it for World Down Syndrome Day on NewJerseyMomsBlog.com titled “An Apology Isn’t Enough“, check it out and let me know what you think.

SD movies

I learned recently that movies are being made available on SD cards, also known as secure digital cards. I can see where the advantage would be the size – an SD card takes much less room to store than a VHS tape or even a DVD. But, the size of the SD forgoes the familiar fancy cover we’re used to seeing. I’m not sure how people would tell one movie from another, maybe with the use of a barcode scanner or something like that. Have you seen any movies on SD cards? I haven’t. What did you think of the quality?

Big Love - Fight Or Flight

The current Big Love season is quickly coming to a close. I love this show and I can’t believe the season is almost over. There are only two episodes left in this season. There’s still so much ground to cover. How long will Roman and Adaleen be forced to stay in one of those extended stay hotels? Will Nicki have sex with Ray? Will Ray ever find out who Nicki really is? How will Wanda react to Kathy’s death? (I thought she’d done it until I realized she hadn’t.) Will anyone ever see the Church letter? What questions would you most like to see answered?

In Plain Sight season opener in sight

I’ve started seeing commercials that the second season of In Plain sight will begin in april. The season premiere is April 19. I’m anxious to see how they’re going to move forward or wrap some of the things from the season finale, especially how Mary got caught with her sister Brandi’s drugs. I’m also curious to see where they go with the Mary - Marshall pair. I’m not the only one that thinks something will eventually happen between the two of them, am I?

Burn Notice finale - Lesser Evil

I wasn’t even sure I’d like the show Burn Notice when I first heard of it but was in love with it by the end of the first episode. The show’s blend of mystery, comedy, action, humor, sarcasm and tension is perfect. The cast is perfect. I love the characters, and yes Michael is my favorite. Give that man a couple of spring plungers and he can get out of any situation.

I don’t want to give all of the details for those of you that haven’t watched it yet. In the finale Michael and Carla go head to head. Carla loses in a big way, but not until after Management was called in. I was surprised to see Frasier’s John Mahoney cast as Carla’s boss but it worked well. He looked pretty cool in the role, nothing like the character of Martin Crane.

What did you guys think of Burn Notice’s season finale? I’m really looking forward to Season 3, coming in June.
