Memorial Day 2009

I hope you’re enjoying the day, whether you’re at a parade, having a cook out or just laying on the couch watching television. Always remember the true meaning of Memorial Day.

I Want My Fake TV

Some more shows that I really enjoyed either got cancelled or ended this year. I notice there seem to be fewer and fewer good new non-reality shows coming out and I think that stinks. It seems the networks will make a reality show about almost anything, from Australian survival to wife swapping. There’s already one show about a weight loss competition, the next thing we’ll probably see is a show focusing on a search for diet pills that work. I don’t like reality shows and I don’t watch them. I want some good old fake tv shows.

Is There Anyone Else That Hasn’t Seen The DaVinci Code?

I’ve seen two trailers for the movie Angels And Demons, which has now been out in theaters in my area for about a week. It’s a follow up to the movie The DaVinci Code, which I haven’t seen. The Angels And Demons trailer looks pretty interesting but I won’t see it now that I know there’s a movie before it. Now I want to watch The DaVinci Code. I’ll have to see if I can find it on one of the movie channels. If not I’ll have to look for it on DVD.

Review television

As we all know you can find reviews all over the web. A well written review can be very helpful and informative. I imagine we’re not far from seeing reviews move to television, on an all review channel. Imagine being able to turn on your television and see any type of review you want, from antiperspirant reviews to Patentrim reviews to zipper reviews. I think that type of channel would do pretty well.

Ice Age Dawn Of The Dinosaurs

The movie Ice Age: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs is due out in theaters in July 2009. We saw a preview of it and it looked like it might be funny. For the record, I felt a little out of the loop once again since I still haven’t seen the 2nd Ice Age movie. Apparently the characters discover dinosaurs that didn’t become extinct.  Now I have to see Ice Age 2, so I’ll understand Ice Age 3.

DNA-TV

DNA Roots is a site that allows visitors to have their DNA tested in order to learn more about their ancestry DNA. I think it’d be great, for many reasons, if we all had our DNA tested at birth. Besides what that would do for out legal and health care systems, imagine what it could do for people researching their family. How cool would it be if you could just turn on a DNA channel on television and through use of pictures and a touch screen automatically learn more about your family tree!

Growing Up And Outgrowing Favorite Shows

My youngest son gets hooked on a show and stays fascinated with it for a long time. His favorites include Barney, Blue’s Clues and currently Thomas The Train. As his interest in one show decreases his interest in another show will increase. One of the shows currently on his radar is Bob The Builder. He generally likes shows popular with children younger than himself. I know Bob has been popular for a while, I’ve seen Bob clothing, toys and linens. Never seen a Bob stroller. Actually that’s one thing that I haven’t seen many animated characters on - strollers and carriages. Hmmm. Anyway. What’s interesting is that as he grows up and finds new shows he won’t hesitate to sit down and watch an old favorite.
