Movie Laundry And Mr Mom

Laundry isn’t usually a funny topic. Many shows don’t even get into laundry. A movie that we watched this past week gives a hysterical look at a man’s first experience with laundry and it’s hysterical. The movie is Mr Mom. Mr Mom came out in 1983 and it’s just funny. One of my favorite male actors, Michael Keaton, plays Jack Butler, an auto factory worker that gets laid off and winds up staying at home to care for the kids while his wife (teri Garr) returns to the workforce. His attempts to “outman” or “one up” his wife’s boss are funny without being outrageous – when her boss asks Jack about the wiring he’s going to use on an electrical project jack replies “220, 221, whatever it takes”. The movie is loaded with funny moments but my very favorites are his troubles with the washing machine, his troubles with the vacuum and his growing addiction to soap operas. I can only imagine what the writers could have done with an ergo baby carrier back then. If you haven’t seen this one make sure you check it out next time it comes on.
