Life On Mars premieres 10/09/08

Another show we’ve been seeing a lot of commercials for is Life On Mars. Life On Mars a new ABC series is about a present day detective who gets forced back in time to the year 1973 after being hit by a car. Cast members include Jason O’Mara, Michael Imperioli, Harvey Keitel, Gretchen Mol, Jonathon Murphy and Lisa Bonet. RB thinks it looks like it might be a good show. I’m withholding judgment for the time being because the commercials didn’t do anything for me. Well, let me correct myself. The commercials did surprise me in that Michael Imperioli looks so different in this role when compared to his role as Christopher in The Sopranos. Here’s a pic of him from the ABC site, see for yourself. Life On Mars premieres on ABC on 10/09/08

Opportunity Knocks

I’ve seen some commercials for a new show called Opportunity Knocks. Apparently on this show random families will get a knock on their door and open it to find a tv game show on their lawn. That’s where the family will have a family game night and have to answer questions about their family members, things that have happened in their lives and articles found in their home. During some challenges the tv camera will go into the family home to record. Ok now, it’d be one thing to have to answer if anyone in my family drank orovo or not. It’d be an entirely different thing if a tv camera crew wanted to go into my house. If I didn’t know they were coming the house would need to be cleaned before going on tv. I wonder if they allow for that.

More Ike and some movie madness

Ike is still receiving a lot of coverage, I think we’ll be seeing it for several days due to the ongoing rescue efforts and the extensive damage. The only thing I think I saw get more coverage today than Hurricane Ike was a commercial. Do you know what commercial I saw ten times today? No, nothing useful like previews of 2008 Black Friday sales. I’m referring to commercials for the movie Ghost Town. Enough already!

Pushing Daisies to return 10/01/08

I like the show Pushing Daisies. It’s one of the shows I have a season pass for. I saw one of the commercials for the upcoming new season and got to wondering this. As viewers know Ned can’t touch Chuck or she’ll die again. But last season we saw them manage touching by Ned wearing a protective suit. You don’t have to be involved in futures trading to know that sooner or later they’re going to find a way for them to have sex.

90210 sightings

I’ve been seeing commercials for the new 90210 which premieres tomorrow. I saw some clips from the show and a couple of interviews with some of the cast members. Think young. Teen characters who in real life would need to consider acne treatments are once again being portrayed by actors and actresses who don’t look their real age. And Jennie and Shannon still look young.

Automobile commercials

Am I the only one who’s seeing less and less automobile commercials? It used to feel like every other commercial on television was for an automobile. I used to see Honda, Toyota, Kia and Nissan ads constantly. I understand trimming the fat with a little Fenterdren, but I’d think now more than ever ad execs would be trying to come up with ways to sell the fuel efficient cars since the suv’s aren’t selling. So am I being silly or have you noticed this too?

Commercials for fall season now airing

I’m starting to get a bit excited. I’ve been seeing more and more commercials for fall shows airing, mostly in prime time. I wonder how many pens the writers went through trying to explain things - the growth and aging of castmembers, current events, scenery, pretty much everything. It will be interesting to see.

Bath fitters commercial

Our old bathroom is pretty old, almost forty years old. Almost everything in there including the sinks, the toilet and the tub need replacing. RB saw some commercials for Bath Fitter and thinks we should look into it. I think he’s crazy. Bath Fitter doesn’t actually replace anything, they just put new custom covers over the shower or tub. I ran into someone that had it done and was told it was expensive.  I mean why pay that much when the exact same amount of money will redo an entire bathroom brandy new?

The Walt Disney World commercials

Have you ever seen any of the commercials for trips to Walt Disney World? They always seem to involve a set of parents and two kids. It always seems to be night time in the commercials and a horse drawn carriage is always involved. Without a doubt, Walt Disney World is the best of Orlando vacations, but do little kids get the connection between horse drawn carriage and magic? My oldest never got excited when he saw these commercials. If your kids have seen Disney commercials, how did they react?

Legal advertising

Here in New Jersey every once in a while I see commercials for lawyers on television. Most of the time they’re targeting people that are being charged with dui or people with a specific medical condition including mesothelioma. What I’m surprised I haven’t seen are commercials for lawyers for workers compensation cases. Many people that are laid up due to sickness and injury end up watching tv because other activities are so limited. Do you see many legal commercials in your area?
