Descratching A DVD

scratched dvd

I recently read in a magazine that you could remove the scratches from a DVD by spraying a little Pledge on a cloth and wiping the DVD. supposedly the Pledge creates a film that fills in the scratches, allowing the DVD to play normally. Now this might work on some minor scratches, but would it work on numerous, deeper scratches? My son is super hard on his DVDs and some of them aren’t even working any longer. Before I spend the money on a can of Pledge and start wiping the DVDs off I’d like to know if it would help.

Smile For The Camera

We were looking at pictures taken on our annual camping trip. They’re all digital photos and we watched them on the television through our FIOS modem. I hadn’t really noticed that my brother LB2 never smiled often, especially when the camera was pointed in his direction. It’s because he’s having so many problems with his teeth. Some of them broke and he;s very self conscious about it. He did make some appointments with an orange nj dentist or someone up his way and they’ve started working on him once a week. I can’t wait until they’re done so my handsome brother is smiling once more.

Would Pooh Be The Same Character If He Was Thin?

I love Winnie The Pooh, as does my youngest son. One of our favorite episodes has Pooh getting stuck in the door (hole) of Rabbit’s house. It took several days for him to lose enough weight to get out of the hole. I wonder what kind of character Pooh would have been if he’d been illustrated thinner, given some of the best diet pills as it were. I somehow doubt he’d have been a cheerful.

Energy Drinks And Kids

I’ve noticed a fair amount of kids drinking energy drinks over the past few months. I caught my own son drinking them and explained that they weren’t good for him, nor were they necessary. A couple of days later our local news channel did a segment on how bad they are. My son didn’t believe it because he’d seem the product commercials. I told him much of what is on television is a lie. The television makes them look so appealing that kids want to try them. I wish companies showed a little more concern for children when promoting their products.

Movies People Never Tire Of

We all have movies that we never tire of. Some of mine include old Bond movies, Willie Wonka and The Chocolate Factory and Meet The Parents. Some of RB’s include all of the National Lampoon vacation movies (especially the one where they go on one of those big Vegas vacations),a bunch of awful horror movies and The Mask. Do you have any movies that you choose tow atch even though you’ve seen it a bunch of times already?

Growing Up And Outgrowing Favorite Shows

My youngest son gets hooked on a show and stays fascinated with it for a long time. His favorites include Barney, Blue’s Clues and currently Thomas The Train. As his interest in one show decreases his interest in another show will increase. One of the shows currently on his radar is Bob The Builder. He generally likes shows popular with children younger than himself. I know Bob has been popular for a while, I’ve seen Bob clothing, toys and linens. Never seen a Bob stroller. Actually that’s one thing that I haven’t seen many animated characters on - strollers and carriages. Hmmm. Anyway. What’s interesting is that as he grows up and finds new shows he won’t hesitate to sit down and watch an old favorite.

How many game consoles does one house need?

RB has decided that TJ’s “game room” is a little small for playing video games such as Rock Band and Guitar Hero, particularly when there is more than one person. So, his new idea is to take the console into the garage and connect it to the band’s sound board. When I asked him which console he meant he said he wanted to leave the wii in the house so it’d have to be the playstation 2. Then he decided it might be fun if we got a playstation 3 instead, because the new games don’t work on the ps2. Good grief! Some times I swear I have three boys and not two. And how many game consoles does one house need anyway? We have just about all of them including snes, n64, game cube, wii, playstation and ps2.

Why aren’t there more Father’s Day commercials

Did you ever notice that for a month before Mother’s Day there are lots of jewelry commercials on television? Now think about the very next month. Are you realizing that for the month before Father’s Day we don’t see a bunch of commercials promoting gifts for fathers? Why don’t we see commercials for men’s jewelry in the month before Father’s Day? My parents are equally important and I spend about the same amount on both. It’s as important to remember one as it is the other. So what’s with the Mom favoritism? Why aren’t there more Father’s Day commercials?

Getting Proactiv about acne

My son is twelve and a half. He’s growing up faster than I care for him to do. Besides being in the midst of a monstrous growth spurt for a couple of months now, he’s dealing with typical pre-teen issues. Adolescence. Things like girls, telephones, tv ratings and skin problems. Like many kids, he enjoys television. We have shows blocked off by rating, and I know what channels and shows he watches. He’s apparently been seeing a lot of acne solutions advertised and he hasn’t figured out yet that tv commercials often don’t represent the truth. One product he really wants me to get for him is Proactiv, because he keeps seeing the commercials.  I’m very hesitant to buy it because it’s pretty expensive and I’m skeptical. If any of you have personally used Proactiv I would appreciate hearing about if it worked or not.
