Hindenburg Scenery Still Standing

hindenburg hangar 1

So many fictional disaster movies have been made that I can’t but wonder why Hollywood doesn’t take one of America’s most dramatic tragedies and do a feature on it. Cameron did the epic Titanic. So how about some producer doing the Hindenburg? The actual location of the event in the Pinelands remains today much like it was back in the 30’s. In fact the part metal buildings there then still in good condition and being used.

Taxi Fare

portable pos machine

How is it that on tv and in the movies they don’t show money situations like they happen in real life. Take a taxi ride. If you and I took a taxi ride we’d need to go into our purse or wallet and get the right amount of money out and give it to the driver. (After calculating the tip in our head.) On television when you see someone taking a cab they either don’t show them paying for it at all or they show the person just opening their wallet and handing over a bill without looking at it. No change back either. it would make much more sense to me if they one of those portable POS systems and we saw people using their debit and credit cards. What do you think?

At the Movies

While watching a movie recently, I couldn’t hear the dialogue over the chatter of the two women sitting in front of me. Unable to bear it any longer, I tapped one of them on the shoulder.

“Excuse me,” I said, “I can’t hear.”

“I should hope not,” she replied sharply. “This is a private conversation.”

Considering the privacy they wanted it’s a safe guess that the women weren’t discussing college student loans.

Continuity Chat - Hiding In The air Ducts

Did you ever notice that on television and in the movies people (bad guys and good guys) often hide up in the ductwork of the ventilation system. Have you noticed how clean the ducts always look? I’ve had my ducts cleaned and I know what my vents look like – they don’t look like that.Either those buildings have the best air filters in the world or someone needs to speak to someone else about continuity.

Clash Of The Titans Due Out In March 2010

Have you noticed how many new movies that have come out over the past couple of years are remakes of old movies or shows? One of my favorite old movies is Clash Of the Titans. I’ve just learned that Warner Brothers is releasing a movie by this name that is due out in theaters in March 2010. I’m not sure if this is a remake or not. Check out the synopsis, taken directly from the site (http://clash-of-the-titans.warnerbros.com/).

In “Clash of the Titans,” the ultimate struggle for power pits men against kings and kings against gods. But the war between the gods themselves could destroy the world. Born of a god but raised as a man, Perseus (Sam Worthington) is helpless to save his family from Hades (Ralph Fiennes), vengeful god of the underworld. With nothing left to lose, Perseus volunteers to lead a dangerous mission to defeat Hades before he can seize power from Zeus (Liam Neeson) and unleash hell on earth. Leading a daring band of warriors, Perseus sets off on a perilous journey deep into forbidden worlds. Battling unholy demons and fearsome beasts, he will only survive if he can accept his power as a god, defy his fate and create his own destiny.

That doesn’t sound exactly like the old Clash Of The Titans to me. What do you think?

A Thought About Forrest Gump

I’ve always enjoyed the movie Forrest Gump. Tom Hanks was awesome in that role! At one point of the movie he’s wounded while he’s in the service. at that point he’s assigned to a group that apparently travels around just to play exhibition ping pong. Boy could he work a ping pong table! Do you think there really were traveling ping pong teams whose purpose was to entertain other soldiers?

Jim Carrey Movies

With A Christmas Carol now out Jim Carrey is in the spotlight again. One of my favorite movies is Bruce Almighty. We’re fans of Jim Carrey and we think this is one of his best. From the early scene about the cookie in front of what I think was a Syracuse italian restaurant to the end we still laugh after seeing the movie numerous times. I loved his interaction with God. RB liked the scenes with the gang and the scenes with Jennifer Anniston. Even TJ likes this movie. I didn’t like the sequel Evan nearly as much. What’s your favorite Jim Carrey movie?

Blu-ray DVD Combo

Disney is now putting out some of their movies in a combination package containing both a Blu-ray disc and a DVD. We don’t have a Blu-ray player or a PS3 so we don’t need the Blu-ray disc right now. But eventually we want to get a Blu-ray player. Disney movies don’t stay available for purchase for very long so it’s kind of nice to know that we won’t have worry about how to get our favorites on Blu-ray when they’re not out if we got the combination pack we’ll already have the Blu-ray disc.

Movies People Never Tire Of

We all have movies that we never tire of. Some of mine include old Bond movies, Willie Wonka and The Chocolate Factory and Meet The Parents. Some of RB’s include all of the National Lampoon vacation movies (especially the one where they go on one of those big Vegas vacations),a bunch of awful horror movies and The Mask. Do you have any movies that you choose tow atch even though you’ve seen it a bunch of times already?
