Automobile commercials

Am I the only one who’s seeing less and less automobile commercials? It used to feel like every other commercial on television was for an automobile. I used to see Honda, Toyota, Kia and Nissan ads constantly. I understand trimming the fat with a little Fenterdren, but I’d think now more than ever ad execs would be trying to come up with ways to sell the fuel efficient cars since the suv’s aren’t selling. So am I being silly or have you noticed this too?

Commercials for fall season now airing

I’m starting to get a bit excited. I’ve been seeing more and more commercials for fall shows airing, mostly in prime time. I wonder how many pens the writers went through trying to explain things - the growth and aging of castmembers, current events, scenery, pretty much everything. It will be interesting to see.

Bath fitters commercial

Our old bathroom is pretty old, almost forty years old. Almost everything in there including the sinks, the toilet and the tub need replacing. RB saw some commercials for Bath Fitter and thinks we should look into it. I think he’s crazy. Bath Fitter doesn’t actually replace anything, they just put new custom covers over the shower or tub. I ran into someone that had it done and was told it was expensive.  I mean why pay that much when the exact same amount of money will redo an entire bathroom brandy new?

The Walt Disney World commercials

Have you ever seen any of the commercials for trips to Walt Disney World? They always seem to involve a set of parents and two kids. It always seems to be night time in the commercials and a horse drawn carriage is always involved. Without a doubt, Walt Disney World is the best of Orlando vacations, but do little kids get the connection between horse drawn carriage and magic? My oldest never got excited when he saw these commercials. If your kids have seen Disney commercials, how did they react?

Legal advertising

Here in New Jersey every once in a while I see commercials for lawyers on television. Most of the time they’re targeting people that are being charged with dui or people with a specific medical condition including mesothelioma. What I’m surprised I haven’t seen are commercials for lawyers for workers compensation cases. Many people that are laid up due to sickness and injury end up watching tv because other activities are so limited. Do you see many legal commercials in your area?

The return of the cavemen

I’ve mentioned them before. The cavemen. I don’t like the cavemen. I didn’t like them when they were in the Geico commercials and I didn’t like them when they got their own television show. After a couple of very pleasant and enjoyable cavemen free months, I was subjected to some more torture this past week when another cavemen commercial for Geico appeared on television. Can’t Geico come up with anything more interesting or more amusing then cavemen to get people to request an auto insurance quote? Are people really applying with Geico just because of these silly cavemen?

Why aren’t there more Father’s Day commercials

Did you ever notice that for a month before Mother’s Day there are lots of jewelry commercials on television? Now think about the very next month. Are you realizing that for the month before Father’s Day we don’t see a bunch of commercials promoting gifts for fathers? Why don’t we see commercials for men’s jewelry in the month before Father’s Day? My parents are equally important and I spend about the same amount on both. It’s as important to remember one as it is the other. So what’s with the Mom favoritism? Why aren’t there more Father’s Day commercials?

90210 commercial

In the past couple of days I’ve started seeing a commercial for the 90210 series that’s supposed to start airing in the fall. The commercial said it will be on on Tuesdays. They’re using the same theme music as before except it’s a bit heavier and contains more electronics. The commercial does give a quick glimpse of what the teenage characters will look like, but no sign of the adults. We watched the original Beverly Hills 90210 from beginning to end, and yes we are curious about this one and will be checking it out when it airs.

Real estate commercials

Recently my family spent a weekend in Wildwood, NJ. We watched a little television while we were there and I was surprised to see some real estate commercials. I don’t think we see those at home, and I live less than two hours away. I saw two spots for a realtor, a number of spots for residential properties and even two for a commercial property. No condo hotel spots that I saw but I wouldn’t be surprised if there were some on since Wildwood is really developing and condo buildings are popping up everywhere. Are any real estate commercials on in your area?

Magazine ads on tv

We all know many companies buy television commercials during certain shows. Besides the show’s popularity, I’m sure it’s somehow tied in to demographics and a bunch of other things. This weekend, after seeing one of those scrolling weather warnings go across the television I got to wondering what we’d see if anyone could advertise there. Imagine if anyone who advertised in the back of a magazine could advertise on tv. Maybe people could buy ads according to what shows were on. So travel shows would have hotel commercials. Food shows would probably just flash Phentermine no prescription. Pet shows would have flea collar commercials. I’d hate it. Do you think we’ll ever see advertising done in this way?
