Harry will be a bit late

I have no idea how I missed this piece of news. The next Harry Potter movie is the sixth movie, Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince. I’ve been looking forward to seeing this movie in the theaters in November for some time now. Today I found an article that said the Harry Potter movie opening date has been pushed back from November 21, 2008 all the way out to July 17, 2009. It was the studio’s decision to push back the opening. Geez! That’s long enough to have a baby! The movie is actually already finished. I understand that the decision to delay the opening was because Warner Brothers had no big movies releasing next summer.

Harry Potter trailer sighted

In my travels this evening I happened to visit the Harry Potter website, where I was treated to a trailer for the new Harry Potter movie. The movie Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince is set to release in November 2008. The premiere looks terrific, as I think they all always have. If tickets were put on sale today I’d buy some. I can’t wait to see this movie. Are any of you Harry Potter fans? Which movie is your favorite so far?

What does it matter that Dumbledore is gay?

Last week author JK Rowling told the crowd at Carnegie Hall that the character of Albus Dumbledore is gay. Now there’s all sorts of hubbub. I myself am not sure what the commotion is about. I have read every Harry Potter book and seen all the movies released so far, and enjoyed them. I don’t even consider them as sexual, I consider them as students and children. I am unclear what the big deal is that Dumbledore is gay. Clearly it didn’t affect his skill and power as a wizard. The only thing I see it did is made him human and have feelings. So what if he fell in love with Gellert Grindelwald, whom at one point he battled. It’s not ever been a point covered in a book or movie, so it’s just an after the fact detail that changes nothing. If you think Dumbledore being gay somehow matters in context of book or movie, please comment why.
