A 56″ Slideshow

I have my computer set up to show a slideshow of my pictures when I’m away from my desk. It’s not unusual to find either RB or CJ sitting or standing nearby watching the pictures when I leave my desk. We all enjoy them so much that I’m thinking I’d like to connect my computer to the big screen television in the living room, so we can look at pictures and slidshows and such on there. I believe I can do this with a Linksys router or one of their media center products. Anyone want to come over my house to watch a 56″ slideshow?

Couch comfort

I’ve had a hard time getting comfortable on the couch for a while now, mostly due to my weight and our couch. We have a sectional couch in our living room that’s shaped like a capital letter C. The back of the couch frame is very hard on the two recliner pieces and sometimes they hurt my back. I prefer to watch tv in a half sitting/half laying position but cannot do so because of either the curve in the couch or the hard back on either end. Ideally I should probably get a pillow that’s made like those bed wedges to put on one end so it would make it softer to lay on and so that it would raise my head higher to watch tv. How do you get comfortable when you watch tv on the couch?

Will flat screen tv be the end of a/v furniture?

For years the console television is what most households had. Then the big screen tv started becoming popular. Now, flat screen televisions are the direction to go in. With televisions coming up off of the floor and onto our walls, we’re left with furniture either not fulfilling its potential or that we no longer need. In my home we had a set consisting of a tv stand and one of those audio racks to match. Now the tv stand is in the dining room, home to a spinning picture frame display. The audio rack no longer contains audio components, they’ve been relocated to the top of the big screen tv. The audio rack is now home to our DVDs and CDs. Have you upgraded any televisions and been left with furniture you had to repurpose?

Anyone have a dvd recorder?

I decided today that a dvd recorder would be nice to have in the living room. Yes we have Tivo, but I can’t keep stuff on there forever. I had something saved once that deleted after about 14 months. I now have Hinder footage in there that I want to get off onto another form of media because I’m afraid I’m going to lose it. So. Do any of you have a dvd recorder? Have you experienced any problems with recording tv shows or movies? Any tips? I’d like to move some stuff onto dvd for future viewing. I’m not sure what the recorder would cost I haven’t started research or pricing yet. I’m still in the realization stage of the purchase process. The next step is to “help” hubby realize we need one too. Then comes the pricing, which I’m usually good at because I wait until I find a great deal or a coupon. I love to use coupons. (I found some Shutterfly coupons today, just click if you’re interested. They do a nice job.) Sometimes I research pricing for weeks until I’m ready to buy. It’s sort of my ocd.

Perhaps we should schedule to use the tv

With all the great gifts we all got for Christmas, everybody seems to be competing to use the big television. My oldest son always asks to use the big tv, but now that he got a wii for Christmas he’s dying to try it out on the big screen. He also got the 2nd Harry potter dvd game. All four of us got dvds. My son received The marine and my hubby received License To Wed. I received some Nascar dvds and a Nascar dvd board game. My youngest son got 2 Thomas the Train dvds, a Bob the Builder dvd and a Wiggles dvd. We’ll have to work this ou or create a waiting list for the tv. I call first dibs!

Shows I have a season pass to as of 10/10/07

Let me start by sharing with you shows I currently watch every week. I have a season pass set up on our living room Tivo for most if not all of them. Tivo’s season pass allows the viewer to schedule all or just some episodes of a tv series. This list doesn’t include what we watch occasionally, anything we watch on a whim , movies or news - it’s just current recurring series.
Soaps. I only watch ABC soaps. All My Children, One Life To Live and General Hospital.
Comedy. Til Death.
Drama. Law and Order, Law and Order SVU, Law and Order Criminal Intent, ER.
I just started watching these shows this season. Some are new, one is not. Two and a Half Men, Pushing Daisies, Gossip Girl, Dirty Sexy Money, Big Love, Burn Notice, The Dead Zone.
