General Hospital Night Shift returns tonight

I just saw a commercial letting me know that the SoapNet series General Hospital Night Shift premieres its second season tonight. I’m confused. Last year when the series began the network said the storylines of General Hospital and General Hospital Night Shift were separate and that viewers wouldn’t need to watch both. As a regular viewer of General Hospital I found that last season many things made no sense. I’m wondering how they’re going to manage things this season. Once again several General Hospital actors will be pulling double duty, so they’ll probably need some energy pills. Robin, Patrick and Epiphany are the only main GH characters that I know of, so I guess we’ll have to wait and see if Jason and Spinelli appear on Night Shift again. I hope it’s better than season one, if not I may not watch.

MVP

Another show I finally checked out this weekend was MVP, which is an original SOAPnet series that SOAPnet is airing. MVP is a nighttime drama about hockey players, their families and their personal lives. The beginning of the show has background music that says “who taught you to live like that” over a montage of men dressing for hockey and women dressing in “sexy” clothing. (No, not French maid costumes but not far from either).

Storyline all begins in the first episode when the hockey team captain Adam dies. (The team had an insurance policy on him just large enough to cover the salary of the new player they were bringing on.) Other characters we’re introduced to include Adam’s widow Evelyn and daughter Molly, new captain Gabe, Connie the local teacher/virgin that Gabe’s got a thing for, the new player Trevor Lemonde (played by Dillon Casey, this guy is hot), and Damon Trebuchet the hockey player who records his many sexual encounters and whose dead wife appears to him regularly.

While MVP doesn’t have the best writing I’ve ever seen I’m going to stick with it for now and see where it goes/
